🍑 Plum ‘Angeleno’ is a late-season Japanese plum cultivar prized for its long shelf life, firm texture, and rich flavour. It’s a reliable performer in South African orchards and home gardens alike.

Botanical Name: Prunus salicina ‘Angeleno’ (also known as Suplum Six) Common Name: Angeleno Japanese Plum

🍈 Fruit Description: Produces medium to large, round to slightly flattened plums with dark purple to black skin and firm, yellow flesh. The flavour is sweet and aromatic, with a fine texture. It’s a freestone variety, making it ideal for fresh eating, drying, or preserves.

🌸 Flowering & Pollination:

Blooms in mid to late spring
Requires cross-pollination with compatible cultivars like Fortune, Souvenir, or Letitia for optimal fruit set
Bears on both spurs and shoots, with high flower intensity

🌞 Light & Position:

Requires full sun for best fruiting and flavour
Plant in a sheltered, well-drained location to avoid wind damage

🌱 Soil & Planting:

Prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 5.5–6.8)
Enrich planting hole with acid compost to support root development
