Deliveries and Charges

POSTAL CODES

Please make sure you enter the correct postal code in your delivery address to avoid delivery surcharges when we arrive at your premises with your delivery.

To the best of our knowledge every South African postal code is loaded, so please let us know if yours is missing.

If you have entered your postal code and you are not given a delivery amount, it is because we have not yet loaded your postal code.

In this case, please select the option to request a delivery quote or whatsapp us your request.

DELIVERY OPTIONS

On checkout, you will be presented with the following options for you to choose the one that suits you best:

  • Self Collection

  • Own Courier

We will charge R5.00 per kg to package the products for you. 

Couriers will not transport products which are not packaged.

  • Delivery

We deliver the products directly to your door anywhere in South Africa.

  • Courier   We have secured a new Courier that comes with lower charges and better safety for your parcels

OUR DELIVERY SERVICE

â„šī¸ We now deliver everywhere in South Africa directly from our suppliers to your door.

At Pick–Me Nursery we understand that some of your purchases may be too big, heavy or cumbersome to collect yourself – so why not utilise our delivery service?

We charge a delivery charges at a low per km rate and a low per kg rate.

The per km rate covers our cost of fuel to your destination.

The per kg rate covers our cost for other charges like, toll fees, labour to load and offload, wear-and-tear, etc.

We are not a courier company and do not make profit on delivery charges but offer this as a service to you, so we can ensure your products reaches you in good condition.

If we deliver your products, we take full responsibility for the state in which the product arrives with you and any damage incurred on the road.  We will therefore replace any products damaged by us in transit.

COURIER SERVICES

â„šī¸ You will be able to choose the option to use your own courier at your own risk.

If you order 1 or 2 products and they are small and light, arranging your own courier might be the cheaper option especially if the distance is large.

Couriers will often not deliver large items like Concrete Water Features where the base on it’s own may weigh close to (or in excess of half a ton), and take up to 8 men to move and place in position.

If you order many plants or large concrete products, courier charges would far exceed what we charge to get the products to you, as they charge a lower rate per kilometer (because they send many parcels to the same location at once), but a considerably higher rate per kg (the higher of actual weight or volumetric weight).

If you use your own courier, the risk of the goods pass to you the moment they collect the goods from us.  We will not be responsible for damage in transit by your couriers, so please make sure you select the insurance option and a courier whom you trust.  Also please make sure their insurance covers live products like plants if that is what you ordered.

OUR CHARGES (THE DELIVERY OPTION)

Delivery charges must be paid upfront and is automatically calculated and included in your final bill when you order from the website unless you select self-collection in which case there is no delivery charged.

Our delivery costs are calculated based on the higher of actual weight or volumetric weight with consideration to the distance.

Our charges is calculated as follows:

Weight Charge + Distance Charge

a) Weight Charge

We use the higher of volumetric OR actual weight.

Weight x R2.50 = Weight Charge.

A discount if applied at specific weight intervals to decrease the cost per kg as your order size increases.

The minimum charge we will charge per kg is R0.75 and your order have to make it worthwhile for us to charge this rate.  You will get to this charge level if you order goods more than 5 tons.

b) Distance Charge

We use the distance to you from our base as per Google Maps data rounded to the next base 10 number.

Distance (both directions) x R3.00/km = Distance Charge.

A discount if applied at specific distance intervals (1.5% per 100km) to decrease the cost per km as your distance from us increases.

This is done because the open-road consumes less fuel.

The minimum charge we will charge per km is R2.32 which you reach if you are 1500 km from us.

We regret we cannot discount delivery charges because it pays for our fuel which we cannot get at a discounted rate.

Is there a way to reduce my delivery cost?

Yes, there is . . . 

We always try to get you the best deal possible, so if we have more than one order in the same area, we recalculate the delivery fee and refund the difference.

Get a friend or a family member in your area to also place an order at the same time.

With just one other order your (and your friends’) distance charge comes down with as much as 50%.  With three other orders, you each get as much as 75% off your distance charge.

The smaller weight charge will remain unaffected as you will still pay 100% of the weight of your goods to be transported.

In this way, the one hand wash the other . . . you help us to gain a sale, and we reciprocate by bringing your delivery charge down.

The only condition is that all the orders must choose delivery by Pick-Me Nursery as the delivery method and the second order must reach us before we delivered yours, otherwise it saves us no  money therefore and cannot translate into a saving for you.

We cannot offer the same deal if you (or your friends choose a different delivery method) as we still need to cover our cost for the trip.

Can delivery fees be negotiated

No, we work strictly according to this calculation as it corresponds with the data for the past 5 years of total vehicle cost / total km travel.

If you feel you can do it for cheaper . . . there is a self-collection option available.  We offer multiple options to allow you to choose the one which will work out the best for you.

We constantly analyse our transport costs and if our volumes increase to specific areas, we will reduce our costs to that area.

As always, we are committed to offer the highest quality and value services and products, for the lowest prices.

What if the wrong product is delivered?

If the mistake is ours because we delivered the incorrect product and we only realise it when we get to you, we will carry the cost of re-delivering.

If the mistake is yours because you ordered the wrong product, or wrong size, the cost of redelivering is yours.

Therefore, please make sure you have done your research and you know what you are ordering.
