Description
Adiantum, commonly known as maidenhair fern, is a genus of around 250 species of ferns. These plants are known for their delicate, fan-shaped fronds with small leaflets on wiry black stems. They thrive in moist, well-drained soil and are often found in shaded areas, making them popular choices for gardens and indoor plant collections. Adiantum species are distributed worldwide, with a high diversity in the Andes and eastern Asia. The genus name is derived from Greek, meaning “unwetted,” which refers to the fronds’ ability to repel water.
