Description

🌿 Camellia japonica Standard — Elegant Evergreen Feature Plant

Camellia japonica Standard is a classic evergreen shrub shaped into a single‑stem standard form, giving it a refined and formal appearance. Its glossy dark green leaves create a rich backdrop for the large, rose‑like blooms that appear from late winter into spring. This elevated shape lifts the flowers to eye level, making them ideal for entrances, patios, courtyards, and decorative pots.

The blooms are full, layered, and beautifully textured. Depending on the cultivar, flowers range from pure white to deep pink or red. Each bloom stands out against the evergreen canopy, creating a striking display. Camellia japonica Standard maintains a neat, rounded crown that suits both modern and traditional garden styles. Its structure adds height, balance, and elegance to outdoor spaces throughout the year.

This plant thrives in semi‑shade and prefers well‑draining, slightly acidic soil. Morning sun is ideal, while harsh afternoon sun should be avoided. Once established, it is hardy and easy to maintain. Light pruning after flowering helps keep the canopy tidy and encourages fresh growth. Mulching around the base keeps the roots cool and supports healthy flowering.

The standard form works beautifully in pots, courtyards, Japanese‑inspired gardens, and formal entrances. It also pairs well with ferns, azaleas, hydrangeas, and other shade‑loving plants. Whether used as a single statement plant or as a symmetrical pair, Camellia japonica Standard brings year‑round structure and timeless beauty to any landscape.
