🌺 Protea Waratah Australian

Protea Waratah Australian is a sculptural shrub known for its bold flower heads and striking form. With layered red bracts and strong structure, this variety brings a modern, architectural presence to sunny garden spaces.

The plant produces large, domed blooms with deep red to crimson tones. These flowers create a textured, eye‑catching display in garden beds and are also valued for their long vase life. Evergreen foliage adds structure throughout the year, contributing to a consistent visual presence in landscapes.

This variety grows well in full sun and well‑drained, acidic or sandy soil. Moderate watering during establishment supports healthy root development, after which the plant becomes increasingly water‑wise. It performs reliably in coastal, warm, and windy regions. Light pruning after flowering helps maintain shape and encourages new growth.

Common uses include:

• Feature planting in sunny gardens
• Fynbos and indigenous landscapes
• Architectural and modern garden designs
• Water‑wise and low‑maintenance plantings
• Cut‑flower production

Protea Waratah Australian offers strong structure, vibrant colour, and dependable performance, making it suitable for a wide range of landscape styles where a bold focal point is desired.
