Description

🌿 Rosemary Verbenone

Rosemary Verbenone (Rosmarinus officinalis var. verbenone) is a refined, aromatic rosemary variety known for its clean fragrance, soft flavour profile, and evergreen beauty. It is prized in both culinary and wellness gardens because it offers a gentler aroma than standard rosemary while still delivering strong herbal character. With its upright growth and fine, grey‑green foliage, Rosemary Verbenone brings structure, texture, and year‑round interest to any sunny outdoor space.

🌸 Why Rosemary Verbenone Is a Standout Herb

This rosemary thrives in full sun and performs exceptionally well in South African gardens. It prefers well‑drained soil and needs only moderate watering once established. Because of its softer, more delicate scent, it is ideal for cooking, herbal teas, and aromatherapy blends. The plant releases a fresh, clean aroma whenever you brush past it, which makes it perfect for pathways, patios, and outdoor entertainment areas.

In addition, Rosemary Verbenone produces soft blue flowers that attract bees and other pollinators throughout the warmer months. As a result, it supports biodiversity while adding movement and colour to the garden. Its evergreen nature ensures that your landscape stays structured and vibrant all year long.

🌿 How to Grow and Care for Rosemary Verbenone

This variety is easy to maintain. Light pruning encourages new growth and helps the plant keep its compact shape. Avoid overwatering, as rosemary prefers drier soil and excellent drainage. With the right care, it becomes a long‑lived shrub that suits both modern and Mediterranean‑style landscapes. Rosemary is also well documented by horticultural sources such as PlantZAfrica (SANBI), which highlights its ecological and cultural value.
