Description
Mango Heidi Tree A proudly South African cultivar, the Heidi mango delivers medium to large, heart-shaped fruit with a rich red blush over golden skin. Its deep yellow flesh is juicy, aromatic, and completely fibreless, making it a top choice for fresh eating, smoothies, or drying.
- Growth Habit: Upright and spreading, reaching 4–9 m tall with a 4 m canopy. Prune in summer and winter to manage size.
- Climate: Thrives in warm, frost-free areas. Protect young trees with frost cover in colder regions.
- Soil & Water: Prefers sandy, well-draining soil enriched with compost. Water every 2–3 days in summer; reduce in winter.
- Fertilizer: Apply a nitrogen-rich feed before flowering and a slow-release mix every 4–5 months.
- Harvest: Fruit matures 4–5 months after flowering—pick when fully colored and slightly soft to the touch.
- Bonus: High in vitamins A, B-complex, and C, plus calcium and iron—delicious and nutritious.
