Description

🍋 Citrus Lemon Lime Tahiti Sweet Lime Plant

🌱 Also known as the Persian Lime (Citrus latifolia), is a smooth‑skinned, seedless citrus hybrid prized for its mild flavour, juicy flesh, and year‑round fruiting. This versatile lime is ideal for home gardeners who want a reliable, low‑acid citrus tree that performs beautifully in South African gardens.

🍋 Fruit Quality of the Tahiti Sweet Lime

The fruit is medium‑sized and oval, turning from green to soft yellow when fully ripe. Its flavour is mildly tart with a subtle sweetness, making it perfect for:

• Drinks and cocktails • Desserts and baking • Marinades and seafood • Everyday kitchen use

Produces fruit throughout the year, with peak harvest in late summer and autumn.

☀️ Light Requirements This lime thrives in full sun, ideally receiving 8–10 hours of sunlight daily for best fruiting performance.

💧 Watering & Soil The tree prefers well‑drained, slightly acidic soil enriched with compost. Deep watering once or twice weekly supports strong root development, especially in containers. Apply a citrus fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season to maintain vigour and fruit production.

🌿 Growth Habit & Tree Features These citrus forms a rounded, evergreen canopy with glossy leaves and fragrant blossoms. Light pruning after harvest helps maintain shape and airflow. It is naturally vigorous and well‑suited to gardens, courtyards, and large pots.

🌡️ Climate Suitability the Citrus Lemon Lime Tahiti Sweet Lime Plant thrives in warm, frost‑free regions such as Gauteng’s warmer microclimates. Young trees should be protected from cold snaps and strong winds.
