Description

🍊 Citrus Navel Blood Orange Tarocco — Sweet, Red‑Fleshed Blood Orange for South African Gardens

One of the most prized blood orange varieties, known for its sweet flavour, deep red flesh, and striking colour. Because the Citrus Navel Blood Orange Tarocco thrives in full sun and well‑drained soil, it is ideal for home orchards, edible gardens, and warm South African climates. Its glossy evergreen foliage and fragrant blossoms make it both productive and ornamental.

🌿 Citrus Navel Blood Orange Tarocco Tree & Fruit

This blood orange tree produces medium‑to‑large fruit with smooth skin and beautifully pigmented flesh ranging from orange‑red to deep crimson. The flavour is rich, sweet, and slightly berry‑like, making it perfect for fresh eating, juicing, desserts, and gourmet dishes. The tree’s dense canopy of dark green leaves provides year‑round beauty, while its white blossoms add a soft citrus fragrance in spring.

🌱 Growth Habit & Garden Performance

Grows vigorously in sunny positions. It prefers fertile, well‑drained soil and benefits from regular watering during dry spells. Once established, it becomes drought‑tolerant and low‑maintenance. It performs well in containers or garden beds and responds positively to light pruning, which encourages strong branching and heavy fruiting.

🌞 Seasonal Interest & Harvest

This blood orange variety ripens from late autumn into winter, offering generous yields of richly coloured fruit. The Citrus Navel Blood Orange Tarocco provides evergreen foliage, spring blossoms, and vibrant fruit during the cooler months. Its fruit stores well and retains excellent flavour after harvest.

🌺 Design Appeal & Planting Uses

Suits both ornamental and productive gardens. It pairs beautifully with other citrus varieties such as lemons, mandarins, and grapefruits. Its compact size makes it ideal for patios, courtyards, and small orchards. The tree’s red‑fleshed fruit adds colour and interest to any garden setting.

🍊 A Reliable, Sweet Blood Orange Variety

Valued for its sweet flavour, striking colour, and consistent yields. Because it performs well in South African conditions, it remains a favourite among gardeners and landscapers seeking a dependable blood orange tree.
